Project Description

In 2008, I created a series of illustrations for Cosmicomics by Italo Calvino—a collection of short stories that intertwines scientific concepts with imaginative, dreamlike narratives. Each story is loosely anchored to a scientific principle, such as the formation of galaxies or the origins of life, and is reimagined through a playful, mythical lens. Narrated by Qfwfq, a timeless, shape-shifting being who claims to have witnessed the universe’s entire history, the stories transform cosmic events into deeply personal and often humorous experiences. Calvino masterfully blurs the boundaries between science and storytelling, reinterpreting the universe’s cold facts with warmth, wonder, and poetic brilliance.
